5.3 bored to a 4" bore??
Can you bore a 5.3 to a 4 inch bore safely??
Why because I have a 5.3 laying around my brother wants to put in his 86 Monte Carlo but wants more cubics thanks guys
I think you will get mixed opinions but I cant say for sure but i think some have done it
Ya biggest I seen was like 3.903 something like that. Only reason he's sticking with the 5.3 cuz its free from me lol but I told him.I would ask I searched it and nothing really came up on the whole 4 in bore etc but thanks man hope.more people chim in
I don't think it's possible.
Lots of debate... But bring it to a machine shop. If they turn you down because of wall thickness, theres your answer.
I've gone to 3.907 on an LM7 block. it was getting thin at that point... you could sleeve it but then your at the money for a bigger block to begin with.
If you want more cubes for cheap, find a used LS1 rotating assembly, bore your block to match, new rings/bearings and be down the road ;) this would take you from 323-325 inches to 346/7 |
I'll tell him about the ls1 assembly cuz he going to rebuild it anyways thanks for the info guys means a lot
I went 3.907 on mine and wouldn't go any further. I've heard of it being done but I'm skeptical of how successful it would be, especially for boost.
ya he says he wants to go with the 3.907 to a 346 like 11.1 cr etc etc
