Question 400ci Distributor ??

this is regarding the 400ci sbc in my nova. I pulled the HEI out and put in an MSD. The one they sent is too short and doesn't reach the oil pump. I looked up the part number and it says SBC .. is a 400 different? I measured the HEI that was in it and this and there is half an inch (7.75vs7.25) difference in the two... any ideas?

It should have a (moveable) slip collar on it that tightens up with an allen head bolt. A 400sb is no different than any other SB in this regard.

Here are the instructions, which I'm sure you've got. Scroll down to page 5-6. Page 6 goes over adjusting the slip collar.
