323 to 383 question
i am about to buy they texas speed 383 stroker kit for my 5.3L and im trying to figure out how much i need to have bored from my block. i know other people have done this before and looking for some much needed advice before i proceed to buy any parts.
|
The 5.3 is a 3.78 bore I think and the 383 is a 3.905 bored if that help u out
|
thats .125 can you bore the 5.3L that far safely? or should i go with a 6.0 build?
|
It's been done plenty of times and I know swift700 I think it is. Is running a tvs1900 on top of his 383

Go read up on the latest Car Craft Magazine, LS-power series. They just did a turbo on a 5.L 383 stroker and made 946HP/1006TQ. Also made a impressive 845/864 on 93 pump gas and meth.
How much HP/TQ you looking to make? |
500-550 i plan to use the texas speed 11.0:1 compression balanced forged rotating assembly and their stage 2.5 heads and what ever cam they recommend. topping it with LT headers and high flow cats and a TBSS intake with a 90mm throttle body and a custom tune from Wheatley.
|
I think it would be wise to have your rotating assembly in hand so the machine shop can measure before they bore it.
But thats just me. |
searched car craft online and did not find any articles but ill keep looking
|
500-550 Idk if its do able if I were u I get close to 11.5 like my 408 is u still can run premium and I'm hoping for those numbers out of my 408 and I have lsxrt 102/102 for it

Wait until you get the pistons to bore the block.
