Borla XR-1, then a 24" hemholtz, and then the stock 6.2 resonator. It's still loud but the drone is almost gone which is what I wanted.

Can you take pics and a video? I'm interested in how it sounds and looks.

I'd like mine a little louder but I really don't want too loud or drone.

Did you start with a stock 6.2 exhaust and modify it?

You can't see how it looks because my welds look like crap from being a 110v mig with flux core wire . I'll try and get a video of it.

Wait, your thread title says remove resonator. You say you now added a resonator and still have the stock resonator and a borla muffler?? This is confusing.

I was going to remove the stock resonator. Then decided against it and left the stock resonator and added one of the hemholtz chambers. So the exhaust is as follows:

Longtube headers, magnaflow high flow cat, borla xr1, hemholtz resonator, stock resonator.

nice. My 3.5” Borla XR1 came in. 40086 part number. Wednesday i’m going to remove the muffler and the resonator and install the xr1 and see how it sounds. going to go with an angled turn down where it isn’t completly turned toward the ground. If it has some drone I want to do the “j pipe” design like you did. AFM will be deleted also once I get a tune so I won’t have to worry about the weird v4 flutter. I think the stock muffler is causing the weird tin-can, pingy noise in my exhaust at this point.

Is the hemholtz resonator a j pipe?

i wouldn’t say quite the same, but same concept. have you read the thread on here about it? lots of the guys ran a straight tube off the exhaust before the muffler and some made a small bend like a J. but i read not to have too sharp of a turn or too many or it’ll defeat the job of the tube.

Mine is after the muffler and before the stock resonator and is just a straight tube. Do a google search of Hemholtz resonator and there are a ton of variations.
