If you drive mostly highway I'd opt for the 3.42's over the max tow and 3.73's. The 6.2 has enough *** to pull the taller 3.42 gear very well. Mine averages on a highway trip anywhere from 21-23 mpg depending on speed and 17-18 on a daily basis back and forth to work. Mine is 6.2 3.42 gears and 4 wheel drive.

Man makes me think that I need to trade in on a cc with a 6.2. My new 5.3 can barely muster up 15 mpg with a mix of 50/50 driving and only avg 10 mpg. Make me think it's kinda hard to believe a cc with almost 100 more hp has that type of gas mileage real 6.2 mpg-image.jpg

KozzyJr, the 6.2 is surprising, especially after having a 2007 Duramax crew cab, 2012 5.3 crew cab and a 2013 6.2 crew cab. The new 6.2 gets better mileage on the same trip than all three of those trucks. Yours should increase as you rack up more miles on it, my mileage increased till I got to about 3k miles then kind of leveled off.

Dude I hope so. I really don't want to tune this truck until the warranty is over.

thank you all for responding. i purchased a new 6.2 4x4 a couple weeks ago. i have less than 1,000 miles and have averaged anywhere for 17-19.5 so far. got a 25 mile best of 23.5! changed out the factory 265/65-18 wrangler sra tires to a 275/65-18 nitto terra grappler. since doing that i have not seen less than 17. i do a lot of hwy driving.

I scrapped the crap noisy rough riding bridgestone tires wife's 14 came with and put a set of Michelin LTX/MS on it and got about a mile extra out of hers on average it's 18.5 to 20 on trips light foot cruise and just driving it hot as ***** 98-105 heat here. I'm really curious as to how it will react once it gets its first gulp of nice cold air in the next 3 to 4 months.

I'm with you on that. I'm in the Austin area. I have used those michelins before and gained mileage but i went for looks and a touch bigger size this time. Just happy i was able to get an all terrain 18 that wasn't E rated and heavy. If i used less of the remote start and drove closer to 65 i bet i would still be 18.5-19 with the nittos.
