When I first installed my long tubes and the stock 6.2 exhaust it was super tingy. weird to describe. i’m starting to think it could’ve been the headers and y pipe at break in, maybe. Not sure.. But I installed a XR1 and it’s dumped at the rear tire. Sounds pretty good. Little drone but I can live with it. Might add a j-tube soon but i’m not wanting to do much since i plan to swap over to a x pipe and 2 muffler setup

My xr1 sounded awesome but it was crazy in the cab. Surprisingly my wife didn't notice it as much as I did.

Put Permatex Ultra Copper on all the pipes & gaskets when assembling & even under the band clamps.

Tighten, wipe off the excess & then let cure a few hours before starting.
The stuff does not burn off, even on turbo flanges.

Pooter I thought you had the 6.2 shock exhaust with a magnaflow 12909 muffler added?

No man just stock, I asked a guy a question in another thread about a 12909 is all. I still have the stock muffler and resonator. Just have the flap cut out only. The rest of the catback is stock 6.2 all the way out

What's killing me is I know that stock muffler is restrictive and holding back a little bit of power but every one I have talked to in person or online hates their exh when they go away from the stock muffler. The only thing anyone has said that they liked so far was double stacked large case mufflers and I don't think I'm gonna do that. I'll likely leave mine as is but I'm constantly back and forth on it.

That guy in the other thread said he had a 12909 he'd sell for $50 so I was gonna risk that amount of money plus install and if I hated it I could put the stock muffler back and not lose too much money. But I don't want to spend several hundred dollars and possibly hate it.

I'd like my exhaust louder than it is but I'm not risking the drone for 5-10hp. This ain't a race truck. Maybe if I cam it I'll look into that magnaflow but for now it's fine.

10-4 I was the one that bought that 50 dollar muffler. My last 6.2 had headers, catless y pipe, 12909 and then I cut the stock resonator off and left it dumped. I loved the way it sounded and had 0 drone. So I’m hoping this one will be similar even though they are different 6.2’s. I’ll leave the resonator until I have headers then decide if I want to try and go louder.

Ah son of a bitch!! I tried to buy that muffler lol

Odd that other dude didn't like the 12909, once I saw that post and looked up the specs I thought that muffler would be a winner but he didn't seem to like it at all. Damnit now I'm back on the wagon of wanting to try it again.

I had people tell me that muffler was going to be to loud with headers and catless. But I ran the stock muffler with the headers and catless first and the 12909 was just a touch louder than the stock muffler and no drone but sounded better. My 1 year old at the time would sleep the whole way back from the lake pulling 7,000 pounds worth of boat.
