Performance wheel weight?
 
How much will it hurt to go with a rim that is 10 to 15 pounds heavier. I don't care about MPG. I just want to know acceleration. My truck has a 2.5" leveled and 1.5" body lift so it's not a race truck. But it is a 6.2 that I love how it pulls now. I already has 285x75x17 that wieght 64 pounds. But I'm going to a 33x12.5x22 set up like I had on my last truck. The tires are only a 2 pound difference with the 33" being lighter.

Now the 22x10 to 22x12 rims are 10 to 15 pounds heavier. Than the 17x8.5 i have on there now that weight 35 pounds. My last truck I went from stock 2008 denali 20's to 22x10 fuel mavericks which are 53 pounds and it didn't bother me much. But I'm not sure how much stock 20's weight.

Sounds like you'll end up at 8 to 13 pounds heavier. It won't make a huge difference in a 5300-5500 ish hundred pound truck with a 6.2

Are the diameters the same or close to the same? That can have some affect as well.

I don't have a scientific answer but I doubt you'll notice the change when you've already got extremely heavy off road tires on it.

The stock 20's usually weigh in at 39-41 pounds from what I have seen. For just the rim. The OEM tires that come on the 20" are usually right at 40 pounds also.

Keep in mind too the percentage. You're going from 99 pound each to 107-112. That's about 10 percent, not much of a change at that weight.

If you went from 20 pounds to 35, you'd probably feel it a little. But 100-110 ish, not very likely.

Sounds good that’s what I was thinking.

The tires are going down in size about 3/4” at the same weight. But rim are going from a 17 to a 22”

Since you're dropping diameter I bet it equals it all out.

Let us know though, because this is all speculation. I don't have an exact experience. I have gone from lighter to heavier wheels on a 35-45 pound ish range and didn't notice much but I also didn't have back to backs from the track to tell me if what I felt was accurate.
