Hopefully it's just a stuck DOD lifter.

If you can get it unstuck turn off the DOD and just run it.

I turned off AMF about 10K miles ago with HP tuner. I left it with my buddy to hook it up to his tech 2 to see what its doing.

Well the mechanic is so back up he really doesn't have time to really hook it up to the saner.

So I'm going to pull it home and hook it up to my VCM scanner.

What channels do I need to add to scan for what you think I need to scan for. Here is how I have it set up right now. I'll also pull the spark plugs and pop the valve covers off.

Man I hate to say this but in your videos it sounds like something came apart inside. In the second video right near the beginning it makes a loud bang and that sounds like something let go in the bottom end.

The way it's running and setting a map code is very similar to a truck I had in here a couple of months ago that dropped a valve.

Pull the valve covers and look at all the valves. Turn the motor by hand and make sure they all come all the way up. And obviously make sure they are all there and all the springs are there.

Pull the oil plug and look for metal in the oil.

After that if you find nothing check compression.

I can't open the file you posted so I can't say anything about that.

Thanks so much. The way it's running I just have this gut feeling something let go. I don't think something like a sensor would make it run like this. My brother in-law said something about he thought it was missing. But it sound much worse to me.

That's worse than a misfire. A misfire wouldn't cause the severe rough idle, dying, MAP code, inability to run down the street etc.

So the mechanic that is really busy did me a favor and at least took one of his scanners out to my truck and listened to it run. He pulled a few more codes with his scanner. He didn't have time to dig any deeper but thought it was a dropped lifter too.

P0300
P0106
P0107

The scanner he used didn't have the capability to see which cylinder was miss firing.

Can the HP tuner VCM scanner read which cylinder has a miss fire.

It's internal.

Either a ring land or bearing.

It made a loud bang sound. Not going to be a sensor or a tune up.

Is it full on oil? How many miles are on the current oil?

Have you drained the oil and looked for metal in it?
