My 2014 SLE Double Cab with a little work done

Went from an 07 RCSB NNBS to a Buick Regal GS to a 2014 SLE Double Cab 5.3L 2wd. I put an Airaid intake on, Gibson super truck exhaust, 3" Belltech lowering shackles (PN 6401), 2014 SLT/Denali knock-offs wrapped in Nitto NT420s's. Love the truck and have had zero issues (or fires) so far. The factory 20" wheels are on Ebay right now if you're interested. Custom Tune by Tampa Tuning is next.

No noticeable negative side affects so far. Haven't hauled or towed anything heavy yet though. The rear is still 3/4" higher than the front.

How does the truck sound in 4V mode with your exhaust?

01FormulaTA 01-13-2014 07:00 PM

Looks good but you shoulda kept the OE 20's imo

Pics of the intake installed.

can't really tell from my own experience... with my '08 and exhaust when it would go to v4 mode I could never tell any difference rolling down the highway.

interested in OP's reply though, I'll be doing exhaust on mine real soon.

It sounds about as good as it can IMO. It actually sounds like a smaller V8. I think the sound is slightly more distinct than my previous truck (I had this system on my 07 NNBS RCSB) and I notice it a bit more but I think it is just my perception since I am coming from driving an ultra quiet Buick Regal GS. None of my passengers mention the V4 sound and I had to point it out to my dad who could then identify when the engine made the switch. For the $350 I paid or the system I am completely happy with it.

I was on the fence about making the switch to be honest. Those stockers just didn't blow my skirt up. They looked to small (but I suspect it is the new shape of the wheel wells that make 20's look small). I was worried about these having too much black in them and the truck looking 'murdered out' as the kids used to say. In person, the wheels looks great and give it a presence the OE 20's didn't. IMO.

I think it's about 8" away from the box. As far as MPG, that is a tougher question. My best mpg in a 50 mile segment has been 21.4. That was mostly highway driving though. My weekly commute is about 40 miles of mixed driving per day and I average about 17-18 if I keep my foot out of it. 15 - 16 if I drive spiritedly.

That is a nice looking truck.
Congrats!

Looks real good, I picked up a 14 silverado double cab, I'm using e85 now and threw a tune in it, really woke it up. I'm on the fence about the airiad, it isn't exactly cheap.

Bass Mechanic 03-18-2014 08:48 AM

did your truck come with the black door handles? i have the 6.2L all terrain in black and i want the same 20" oe wheels but i got the crappy chrome 18"
my truck has black bumpers but the stupid chrome door accent strips. i really want to remove the chrome and i already blacked out the chrome mirrors with black vinyl wrap.

i just wonder how difficult it is to replace all the door handles and remove the chrome trim from the doors.
i could easily vinyl wrap the chrome trim at the bottom of the windows.

lowered907 03-18-2014 09:46 PM

Are the cold air intakes for the 5.3 and 6.2 the same?

Sorry to thread jack

black01_WS6 03-19-2014 05:48 AM

When you put a tune on it did you ever get a Hp/Tq, and air/fuel graph? Just curious.

sscamaroburn02 03-30-2014 08:14 PM

Truck looks great, I like the wheels you have over the stockers. What tint % is on your windows as I'm getting mine done this week and I like the look of yours?? Also what are those plastic wheel well liners called, did they come on the truck stock?

colekill 03-31-2014 04:20 PM

stock on all the GMCs
