I have a 2017 Silverado Z71 double cab 4x4 5.3, 6 speed, 3.42 gears, drop in K&N filter, custom cat-back with a Black Widown Vemon 250 muffler, and a Klug Performance e85 tune. I have had one time slip in the 13s when it was 48 degrees this Spring. With some tune adjusting the rest have been consistent 14.10-14.20 1/4 mile times with the warmer 70s-80s summer temps. I am very happy with my times considering it ran 15.20 stock but just wondering what suggestions you guys might have mod wise to get my truck running consistent 13.90s? My thought was long tube headers because I've heard they are good for around 2-3 tenths with tuning. If you guys have any other recommendations please let me know.

Gears and/or a looser converter pretty much always helps the most. I had a truck drop from 9.54 to 8.90 just going from 3.42s to 4.10s. While that's not normal I still think it would help if et is your goal. Of course only if your hooking up.

LTs will definitely help, I also agree that a converter will be a well worthwhile mod. After that you're looking at tires and a cam.

Really happy traction is not an issue, and I was looking into converters as well like a 2800-3200 Yank truck converter. Just was seeing other then headers if there was a bolt on under 1,000 dollars that might help. How much is a set of 4.10s for our trucks? Already have a cam picked out just not ready to open up the motor lol.

I recall someone paid 2300 installed 4x4 with posi don't recall the year. I think I paid 850 for eaton posi and 4x4 installed but I bought the gears. I would do headers for mph and a converter for et imho. Truck will be hard to sell later with headers but not gears. Converter depends how it drives. Just my thoughts. Like your truck!

Thanks! I'm hoping to have the truck for quite a while but I will probably just keep the stock manifolds and y pipe for when I sell it. Converter wise I might just go with a 2800. I know the Yank stalls are pretty tight. LTs and converter would get me the ETs I want for sure. Just need to come up with the money lol.

A converter alone will get you there, LTs and a converter will make it a fun truck for sure at the track and at the stoplight.

If it was me, I'd be hesitant to do gears before a cam with a DD. Those new trucks are awesome, nice choice :)

I am with you,just what ZR1 says

One idea would be if you are not yet sold on the idea of headers how about a custom built Y pipe remoe main cats maybe leave 3rd cat to cut down on the smell and eye buring you get sometimes going catless.

Going headers makes the truck interior noisy.Wish headers could be quiet like stock.Anyone try to make LT4 headers work on these trucks?

Just talking theory on this one. Applied torque to the axle is engine torque x transmission gear ratio x gear ratio. Example being 350 lbft at the engine 4.0 1st gear and 4.10 gear ratio. You come up with 5740lbft to the axle. Change gear ratio to 3.42 and you are at 4788. Now let's look at changing torque levels let's just say you hit a home run and get 30lbft from LTs. Run the math again 3.42s are 5198lbft and 4.10 is 6232lbft. The gears will net more applied torque all day long. They cost more aswell. My personal thoughts are if your hunting an ET I would consider the C7 intake manifold and Tbody. If I remember you spin yours above 6k. The C7 intake is worth 1-2 MPH in the quarter and I was only spinning 5800. I ended up at 13.4x at 101.x. E85, 4.10s, no muffler, C7 intake manifold, C7 tbody, intake tube, drag radials on stock wheels 28.5 tall, and a crap ton of practice/tuning. 2wd RCLB. I could run 13.6x at 101.x all night with the above mentioned setup. I then switched back to the stock intake manifold and tbody and the ET dropped to high 98s and 99s. I managed to maintain high 13.7s but in all honesty it would be 13.8 in all bracket events. This being said the C7 intake has some slight draw backs in the typical truck use torque zones. But if you want .1-.2 ET and 1-2 MPH it is a decent option. If you go this route let me know. I still have the Tbody and it's free to you. Jusr my thoughts.
