Default L86 or lt1 manifold worth it?

Spent all morning reading. It's a fairly cheap mod that seems to pick up a few ponies. What are y'alls thoughts? I'm about to install my long tubes and a cam is going in later this year or early next.

Well screw it. Bought an l86 manifold and throttle body, 8 new gaskets (mine have a 128k miles), and a throttle body gasket for $309 from Amazon shipped. Figure it can't hurt with the headers and future cam.

In the next year I'm planning on getting a camper so I figured the l86 would be better for torque than the lt1.

Both shift power upward but gain up top over the L83 from what I have read. The LT1 looks like a nightmare dealing with the angle of the throttle body and having to make custom intake piping. The L86 from what I remember requires some work there too but not so much.

Do you have a parts list you ordered I can look at? Surely it isn't as easy as just searching l86 intake and l83 throttle body is it?

Edit: I want to look at this stuff too, I had no idea it was so cheap, what did you look up exactly?

The l86 is a direct bolt on but does require the 6.2 throttle body. The lt1 requires an idler pulley bolted to the alternator and a 45* silicone intake boot and a slightly longer belt.

I can get you a parts list when I get home but you can Google l86 intake manifold upgrade and find lots of threads with part numbers .

ACDelco 12639087 - l86 manifold

ACDelco 12678223 - l86 throttle body

ACDelco 12639086 - throttle body gasket

GM Gasket Part# 12626354 - intake runner gaskets (I've been told you can reuse your stockers but mine have a 128k on them so not worth the risk to me)

I think I'll have to jump on this swap soon. Cool info in the link below. The power per dollar here is great, especially when you're looking for that last little bit before spending a couple grand or so.

I believe you'll also need 12650610 PCV tube.
