Default L86 capabilities

Hello all, I have a 2015 Sierra Denali with the 6.2L I would like to supercharge it with supporting mods. I was just wondering what are the weak points I need to address first, I have read somewhere that the ring lands are weak is this true and to what point. any help is appreciated.

The fuel system is the weak link on these trucks. You will need LT4 injectors if you are going over mid 500's and may need to upgrade the low pressure system as well. An LT4 hpfp is recommended but not absolutely necessary. May as well do it though. The long block is fine.

I'm pretty sure Fasterproms did around 640 rwhp on his wifes Escalade with a LT4 supercharger. I think the only mods besides the supercharger are cam, ported heads, E85 and LT4 hpfp to this point. I would have to watch some older videos to make sure.

But

That said after this video he did twist the drive shaft in half launch it at the drag strip. But it did pull the front tires once before it broke LOL

Then later he cracked a piston because the brick under the supercharger was leaking water into the pistons and he didn't know.

The ringlands on these motors are the same as all others, they break when the rings butt together. That's why people open up ring gaps when pushing real high power on stock short blocks. But under 800 or so you should be fine.

The trans should get better once you get it tuned. Try that before rebuilding or replacing it. If a tune doesn't help then it may be a trans issue. Trans tunes on these trucks are a huge deal. As in they all need it cause they all shift like *** when stock. If you have a few miles on it service the trans too.

Is it a 6 speed or 8?

A really good tuner will know what to do with the trans tune.

I threw out that you should be okay up to 800, that's kind of a perfect world thing. But with a real good tune you should be able to put out a lot and be okay, with a bad tune the ring lands can butt under much lower numbers so a lot of it is in the tune and engine temps etc.

The 8 speed has a new fluid that helps it out read through this
