Default Front drive shaft off the transfer case spins

Should the front drive shaft spin while in park with the engine off? Mine spins freely with out moving the rear driveshaft.

I’m getting a grinding sound that seems to be speed based on speed or atleast slower than the engine.

Yes. It's decoupled via the tcase internally and CAD at the axle

If it spins spontaneously, you have a poltergeist. If your hand is on it...its normal. lol

Thanks

Cranked it again a little later and could definitely tell the grinding is in the motor

I put a mechanical stethoscope to it you could hear the clicking/grinding in the motor. The trans, transfercase and diff sound good. Going to hook the scanner to it tomorrow and see if I have a miss somewhere. The light is turn off for my cam. Praying it broke a valve spring again and the dual springs did there job.
