Default Ford 7.3 Pushrod V8 codename: Godzilla

Been hearing rumors about this for a while...pretty interesting Ford is going back to a pushrod design. No power figures yet but I would guess at least 450HP in the Super Duty. If this were to make its way into an F150 my next truck just might be a Ford....

That's very interesting and seems to go against everything else Ford is doing across their line up and what the industry is doing for their line up's. This could get real exciting.

Pretty cool. Sounds like a competitor for the Chrysler banshee...

No, there is nothing anywhere about it going into the 1/2 ton, if anything I would think it would make it’s way into a Raptor or some other SVT product down the line first before being offered as an option on a standard F150, for the time being I’m sure it will only be offered in the F250 and F350...still the most interesting thing to me is it’s a freakin 445ci pushrod motor! And I would bet it gets swapped into a 1/2 ton long before it’s offered from Ford anyways

“The 7.3-liter gas V8 engine delivers high performance in a compact package. Based on decades of commercial engine experience, this 7.3-liter is expected to be the most powerful gas V8 in its class – providing durability, ease of maintenance, and the towing and payload capability customers want. It uses an all-new cam-in-block, overhead valve architecture with cast iron block and forged steel crankshaft for maximum durability. Port injection with variable-valve timing optimizes the intake and exhaust to match performance with workloads. Oil jets cool the pistons under heavy loads.”

I've heard chatter about them switching the raptor back to a v8. This could very live in there but I'd imagine it's a heavy beast. But with Ram looking at building their own off road truck that's probably going to have a healthy engine in it (detuned hellcat?), it would make sense that Ford would want to compete with it.

LOL I like the first asterisk disclaimer. More power, torque, towing capability, improved durability and maintenance *

* vs. 2019MY Super Duty engine

So they're only bragging about it vs. their own previous year's offerings...
