Nothing but good things to say about them and Im sure they can spec to work with your future plans in mind. Both cams I have done through them, with Steven in particular have worked out excellent.

I just called Cam Motion and the sales guy literally told me to not change the cam!!!!!!

Funny a guy that sells cams doesn't want me to buy a cam.

I told him I think I scored the cam and I want to do a DOD delete and swap the cam.

He told me he recommends i just fix it back to stock and put the AMF lifter back in it.

Thanks god my wife didn't talk to this guy.

I would have never guessed someone would tell you to put the stock AFM lifters back in it. That's wild.

He probably doesn't want to sell you a cam because for what you want the stock cam is the best solution.

The main reason I want a cam is to do a DOD delete and get rid of these crappy AMF lifters. All the other things are bonuses.

I would hate hate to do all this work then 6 months later have a different lifter fail.

One of the main things he wants is to get rid of the AFM lifters. Can't do that with the stock cam.

I hear that. Just go with the smallest drop in cam that has higher lift than stock. You'll gain power everywhere and be good.

I understand. Just giving my two cents on why a cam shop might have recommended a stock cam.

Just so every body is looking at the same cam specs here is each cam. I have a 6.2 but TSP suggested the 5.3 cam Stage 2 so it's smaller than the L86,LT1 6.2 stage 1 cam. They said there stage 1 6.2 is to big for a stock stall and have several customers happy with the 5.3 Stage2 in there 6.2. Boosted and NA

TSP l83 5.3
  1. Stage 1: 212/220, .635"/.635", 112 LSA, 108 ICL
  2. Stage 2: 218/226, .635"/.635", 113 LSA, 109 ICL

GPI stage 1 21x/23x .54x/.54x 114+8

TSP l86 6.2
  • Gen 5 LT1 VVT-1 Camshaft: 227/231, .635"/.635", 116 LSA

One thing I noticed that's a little confusing and I didn't think of this till a little bit ago, is TSP lists the 6.2 cams all in one list and they lump the L86 in with the LT1. They should have a L86 only list since truck cams need to be a little different than car cams. So don't get to caught up in "I want to go with the stage 1 L86 cam" because I don't think that stage 1 cam in that list is really a truck cam.

Also if you notice when you put in your truck on their website the only cams that come up are the 5.3 cams, since those are for a truck.

The L83 5.3 list is truck cams. If you had a 5.3 I would say go with the stage 1 since you tow. But since you have a 6.2 you can go with a larger cam and get the same manners a 5.3 would get with the stage 1. So go to a 2 maybe even 3.

If you look at the truck cam list you'll notice the LSA is tighter on them than the 6.2 list. Some of the more experienced guys on there that have done several truck cams say the tighter LSA works a lot better in trucks. I would definitely go with a truck cam so pick from the 5.3 list but just know you can go with a little bigger cam since you have a 6.2

You're going to gain a lot of power even if you go with a stage 1 or 2 and you will notice it. So don't get to worried about going too small. If you go too big you won't like it, plenty of guys on this forum have complained about running a little too much cam in their truck and hating it, i've seen several say it feels like a complete dog and slower than before the cam. You can get away with that in a car easier than a truck.
