I would have loved to get a 6.2, but I do have to say my 5.3 on e85 is no slouch. Any of the 6.2 guys run a 5.3 on e85? I'm curious as to how close it would be. I do agree, my 5.3 on 87 is a dog, but the e85 really wakes it up.

I ran 9.16 @ 75 on E85 full weight bone stock with the bed liner and backflip cover so reasonably close for RC 5.3 vs 6.2 I'm guessing. Wouldnt bet on it for the 1/4 though.

I run mine on e85 pretty much at all times. Mine is also tuned and the timing is bumped up about 4 degrees on the e85 table. Izzz nice!!

I ran a 6.2 one night a few months back, it happened to be one of the only times i've had 87 in the truck, it wasn't pretty.

I should be getting headers soon, once I do I should be real close to 6.2 numbers.

If I dont do anything to my truck by then that can be arranged. Would be fun! Any hey, we even have the same tuner! However I probably wouldn't do more than 2-3 pulls at most...I've never beat on it even before the blower. Don't believe in abusing my work truck, its my money maker

I hear that, not sure if I wanna race some one with dat Sam Milla tune though lol.

I'll have to keep the offer in mind so I don't forget. I feel like you would pull but a tuned 6.2 with headers may give you a decent run.

Its just hard to justify putting much into the 5.3 when the 6.2 flows so much air with those big heads! I mean by the time you do cam and fuel system you could have a 6.2. And my blower fits as do headers so I really do think its the wisest decision by far to change it out instead of mod this. I'll be out of debt in 1 yr so in 2020 I'm doing it if not sooner! It will be true love then.

I fully agree man. The heads out of the box stock do 330 cfm. And you're exactly right, I was looking at doing a cam and ported heads. The ported heads would cost me what the 6.2 would (after I sell the 5.3 to make up the difference). Just silly. And if I do cam and heads, I still wont make 6.2 torque.

BTW, I realized on my way home that you have a single cab, yes I know it's in my face in your sig pic but I was just typing away earlier without thinking. Dude you'd kill me even if I got a 6.2.

I'm working on convincing the wife, she isn't up on it much but she knows how bad I want it. One good thing is she doesn't like it if I lose and I got beat bad by a 6.2 Yukon Denali that a buddy owns so that's helping my case and 10 minutes ago she said she was getting me headers for christmas so that's a bonus.

BUT I raced him on 87 octane, right after I wrote that message above I left work and ran into a new escalade on the way home and pulled up to a stop sign beside him and asked if he wanted to run, he said yeah it's a rental! LOL so I'm on e85 today, and 1/4 tank of gas, perfect. I also now have a magnaflow muffler instead of the stock one and had the flapper cut out. I pulled harder on him than the Yukon Denali pulled me so the muffler and flap delete with e85 made a huge difference. With headers I should be closing in on stock 6.2 power and that was a goal of mine.

After I explained to the wife that I can do a 6.2 for 1500 she's on board for the most part, but I have to get her a new car first. No biggie we sold her super clean modded mustang and bought a boat, now it's time to sell the boat so I can swing the new car. After that long *** story, you should still bust my *** if I have a 6.2

Oh and lastly, I told the wife if I do a 6.2 I'm doing a small cam and DOD delete before the motor goes in. If I do a small cam I can keep the timing chain, springs and pushrods and keep the cost down and maybe make another 20-30 hp at the same time. I don't want a big cam, just something to get rid of the DOD lifters mainly. I still want MPG

I like your plan and God bless your wife for having your back on everything that's just awesome. Well if and when it ever happens maybe I could just load my truck so they are equal weight. That way it would be a good comparison. All in fun anyway I don't take it that seriously lol. Now, power lifting? Different story! Verrry seriously.

Yeah definitely do a cam before it goes in. One of those mods thats all about labor and is 100x easier if you have the motor out

For sake of convo. My stock truck did 9.0 at 77. With cat back, intake and ecm / tcm tune it went 8.8 at 78 and a 13.8 at 99 in the 1/4.

These trucks come pretty well off from the factory.
