4.3 v6
Does anyone have one of these? I'm dying to hear what they sound like

X2...the fact that these are LS based motors is very exciting!! Hopefully the aftermarket picks up on these new Motors...a turbo kit on SCSB 4x4 4.3 would be sick

In a RCSB or LB truck, I would imagine they would run pretty decent. The older 4.3L's were the only decent entry-level V6 option available for a full-size truck, in my opinion. It was getting long in the tooth by the time the GMT800 debuted and was begging for a reboot for the GMT900s debut.
If I were to buy one, It would have to be 4WD RCSB W/T, 2/3 drop, single turbo setup, focused on lightweight full size truck performance. I think that combination would make for a great handling, decently quick truck at a very competitive price. |
The 4.3 in a RCSB should run pretty good. They seem to make the same power that the previous 4.8's made. I'm sure it wont be long til we see one.

We have a '11 RCSB WT with the 4.3L. It's actually got decent power and pick up. I'm sure with a few bolt-ons it would be pretty quick.

My company truck is a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 CC/SB 4wd with the 4.3L V6 & 6spd auto. I am impressed with the little engine. I had a 1993 Chevy K1500 reg cab long bed 4wd with the old 4.3L V6 & 4L60E. The old 4.3 was a dog in the full-size trucks. It would kick out of OD all the time. The new 4.3 is impressive. It definitely needs a tune! It has a delay when pressing the gas pedal.

Glad to hear some first hand impressions, especially in a CCSB!!
I really do like the idea of making a modern-day, full size Syclone. All it needs is a turbo, order it in 4WD RCSB (I'd probably run RCLB because I'm weird) and a 2/4 or 3/5 drop. |
Just got a 2014 4.3 rcsb 2wd, it's a company truck. From a stop it feels almost as fast as a stock NBS 5.3 rcsb.
The little V6 really really surprised me, it's fast for what it is and mileage is great. It needs a tune asap as mentioned, and I'm sure 3.73 gears shoud be an improvement over the stock 3.23 gears. |
