I live in an emissions county and I hate the smell.

I’d love to find a 6.2 but the ones around here go for $5-6000. For that money I could build a decent little engine. Still searching for one though. I’m trying hard not to go crazy with the truck but it’s just so slow and boring.

If you could get around the smell you could go without cats and pass inspection. I've done it for 20 years and doing it now. The tuner disables the rear 02's and therefore no codes come up and the inspection machine just checks for codes and readiness. If the inspector doesn't crawl under the car and check nobody will know. I've been a tech for 20 years, none of the guys I work with that do inspections ever knew what they were looking at much less looked. But the smell thing, I get that some people can't take it and I get it.

Yeah I was bummed when I kept seeing them for $8500 on ebay.

They're $3500 on craigslist with ecu and wiring. There are some that are sold cheaper, but you may have to check with certain types of people...

I'm the unlucky guy that whenever I do something that everyone says they never get busted for, I get busted for it. And I hate the smell.

I'm lazy//cautious when buying used car parts in that I'm not looking outside my area because I don't want to drive to see it but because I also want to drive to see it before I buy it.

I hear all that man. I usually have the worst luck as well.

There's been many times I had to go to multiple inspection stations to get to one that would look past window tint or some other something.

Whoever you get to gear your truck make sure they do a good job of it. I should have done my truck myself but instead paid a guy that I have had success with on 4 other vehicles. Sure enough..... I lose the pinion bearings in my 17's rear end at like 24000 miles total and maybe 8000 miles since install lol. So it's sitting at the local GM dealer and they ordered the entire bearing kit for the truck and are redoing it. They think the truck is still under warranty but I am sure that will end quick once they actually take the truck apart lol. As far as warranty with the installer goes it's not happening and it's a couple hundred miles away to haul it and I need the truck now... not 3 weeks from now. My 05 is smashed and I might get that back together here in the next couple days but still.

Most guys would be losing it but I really don't care... gotta pay to play! At least GM will warranty their work for a year after install.

Had a buddy have a bad gear install from a reputable shop and I got a good one from a dealer. My charger I just swapped the entire diff from a hellcat but it whines and from my research that’s a common complaint. It’s really a crap shoot.

If you know what you are doing it's a non issue.. and well what do you really expect from severely overpriced Fiat junk hahaha. I want a Hellcat now and again (owned a 2006 SRT8 Charger from new) but they are such piles of trash for the money they want for them ( like $100K new for a normal Hellcat here). On Hellcat.org all the damn forum is about is failure after failure after failure. And it's a small community and a small total number of cars sold so it's a pretty big red flag.

People make mistakes and screw things up though so it is what it is. I told myself I should do the rear myself and I wanted too but being lazy said to heck with it..... and that's what you get. If the truck was some toy well who cares but it's not and it's a pain in the *** to de-tool a work rig full of equipment. That said I should have it back by Wednesday if all goes well and the dealer will guarantee what they did and are nearby.

To add to the melarchy, I did an H2 swap on my Tahoe and those are 4.10. So I had a local trans swap do my front to 4.10. Everything was fine for 25k or so, then a trip to Angel Fire, NM I had to back up in 4lo and wow I heard an atrocious noise. Then some noise on the highway. I was certain it was their gear install, so I bought an OEM 4.10 AWD diff from this forum. Did the AWD to 4wd conversion (easy, but need a press) and guess what? ******* noise was still there in reverse! Turns out the 246 was whinining it's heart out.

TLDR: my experience with gear install has been pleasant. I'll go back to that shop when I do 4.56
