2014 cam and bolt ons 1/4 mile...

YouTube "2014 5.3 Silverado RCSB goes 12.91 @ 106 w/ cam and bolt ons"

Cai
Cam (all the stuff that goes with dod delete on new DI)
AR 1 7/8 lt's w/cats
4" cat back
Circle d 3c multi-disc tc
Chuck Anders tuning
New 17" 6-lug Racestar drag setup (27.5"-ish tire height)

Bit 06-14-2014 06:34 PM

I saw the video, that thing is moving. I can't weight to see more results.

cammed06 06-14-2014 06:57 PM

Gonna remove hitch and spare tire/jack/crap and wait for some cooler weather/lower da and try again. It may only be 1/8 mile by then, but who knows...

Joshcas4 06-14-2014 09:10 PM

Nice times bro was this in a 4 door or single cab ?

FFDP 06-14-2014 09:16 PM

Says regular cab short bed.

Sounds good and runs pretty darn good too.

62nalide 06-15-2014 01:02 PM

What size converter? What gears?
Real good times!

No, just the cool factor, and I have run single 4" on a built f-body with great sound and results. I have plans to change it eventually.

Bit 06-15-2014 09:39 PM

Is the DOD delete a secret? I'd like to know how you did it, if your willing to share.

Touche.

bigsapper 06-16-2014 12:51 PM

Took another look at your vid. You're doing 400RWHP with headers, cam & tune?

Vortec350ss 06-16-2014 12:55 PM

Thats pretty awesome! I'd like to know more about the cam specs!

Noah Burns 06-16-2014 03:58 PM

I could give a shit about the cam specs, but the info on DOD, that would be great to have!

I think it would be easier to delete the DOD, but more difficult to keep it and tune for an aftermarket cam.

cammed06 06-16-2014 09:12 PM

Numbers were 401/381
Cam is Chucks Stage 3 cam for the new 5.3
Dod delete is not as simple as say a L76/L99 type

I'm actually impressed with tq number and curve. Plus...with the numbers we got in the little 5.3, we are talking cammed automatic ls2 numbers ( no flames I know there are higher numbers out there for ls2's JUST USING A COMPARISON for automatic and stalled ls2's). I made 376/331 in a 3600 stalled LS1 gto with a large cam. Granted we are comparing a solid axle truck vs. IRS, but still, it's impressive. The truck hooks so well, I was launching off-idle, with 22psi in tires. So there is room for a higher stall, maybe some gears...

Bass Mechanic 06-16-2014 10:57 PM

I'm getting the very first edelbrock supercharger on my 6.2 next week! Any guesses what it will run?
I would be curious to see your dyno numbers. That's pretty impressive for bolt ons

401/381 graph is in the YouTube video

My friend has a Denali 6.2 truck that has the Maggie TVS2300 (Edelbrock uses tvs also, dunno which size), but he makes around 500rwhp on 8-9psi. He has Volant Cai, AR lt's and a custom 4" exhaust with a Corsa muffler. Has not ran it at the track, but says in 4wd it launches real hard, of course he did 4.10 gears to help with that. He did not get a stock baseline dyno, before the Maggie. Dunno his screen name on here, but I can pass him yours and he can pm you. You may want to look into that raised cooler that someone makes for the tvs, it's like $500 and keeps iat's rediculously lower than without it.

thewrx 06-17-2014 12:42 PM

I wouldnt mind running your cammed 14 against my blown 14 once i get the tune sorted out.

is his truck a 2014? or a vortec?

62nalide 06-18-2014 11:48 PM

What size converter are you running? And are you locking it?

Noah Burns 06-19-2014 04:21 AM

you mean locking it on the dyno or locking it in general?

Houston, not too far from chucks actually.

cammed06 06-19-2014 08:29 PM

My friend with the 6.2, it's a 2013

Converter is a 3C 3500-3700

Lockup under wot, is at 77 or 80, can't remember where we left it. Not sure under normal driving...

I'm in nw Florida and rarely go to Texas for visits.

thewrx 06-19-2014 10:24 PM

Is this the same light blue truck on his facebook?

cammed06 06-19-2014 10:40 PM

Yes it is. I was there last week for that purpose, and a family visit as well. 1/4 mile was last Friday night at Baytown. I bought it, lowered it, drove it to Tx and with about 930 miles on it, out came the engine...

thewrx 06-20-2014 06:29 AM

They pulled the motor for the cam swap?

Just wondering, why chucks?

I am still trying to get my tune dialed in up top, hard to figure out how to keep tabs on fuel system on DI.

cammed06 06-20-2014 09:42 AM

It's actually much easier than you think to pull the motor and do the swap (and everything else it takes for the swap) then just plug the converter in, while the engine is out. My last ls3 cam and whipple build, was much easier to pull the motor for the work and then slap the clutch on than to go through the swap, putting a 90 lb whipple on top, then pulling the tranny to do the clutch...

Why Chucks? My answer: Why anyone else? Chuck Anders' experience and knowledge, proven success, I've known him since '06, and I only have positive things to say about him, especially once you get to know him. He knows his stuff.

cammed06 07-03-2014 03:12 PM

LI regret to inform y'all, but two days ago my wife dropped the bomb on me. I am gonna be fine, we have been unhappy for a pretty good while, and it is what it is. Moving out into another household of expenses, kids, ect, I am gonna be forced to sell the only truck I've ever built (had lots of cars). I have the color, the lowered stance, the big lumpy cam, awesome sound and absolutely everything I wanted in a built truck, but reality bites. I drive a patrol car as my dd, I have a ccsb Sierra for the pov and my built '14 rcsb is only a toy/hobby. I cannot justify/afford a monthly payment in a "toy" with the new added expenses. I will post in the for sale section soon.

Here's where it's at now: mods below, it's a 3.5/6.5 drop. Slightly different than the 4/7, but it is the Mcgauhys kit. At 300 miles I drove to Texas, at 900ish miles it got the cam swap and bolt on parts. At 960ish miles it made 5-6 1/4 mile passes to set the cam and bolt ons 2014 5.3 1/4 mile times. It now has just under 1700 miles. Comes with race stars and stock chrome 17" wheels. No parting out. No other stock parts. It gets right at 19.9 mpg on the highway at 75-80 mph. It drives like a big cam, decent converter truck would. Sounds killer. Gets looks and attention absolutely everywhere I go. I am absolutely heartbroken in more than one way, but it's whatever. Truck is a 2WT package, with G80 diff and 3.42 gear. Msrp was over $33k, I am asking $35,900 obo. Located in NW Florida.

slogoat 07-03-2014 11:18 PM

Sorry to hear the bad news bro, you're truck sounds awesome and I hope it finds a good home.

ak2007r6 07-04-2014 12:22 AM

Impressive numbers and badass truck.

Sorry to hear the bad news. Hope you find a good buyer that will take care of that truck for you

thewrx 07-04-2014 08:35 AM

Man i like those wheels.

NKPPhil 07-04-2014 03:47 PM

My sympathies, cammed06. I've been there.

Best of luck to you, but you sound like a pretty hardy dude and I'm bettin' you'll do great once you get over the "shock & awe."

Blackpanther99 07-05-2014 07:56 PM

I've had a 10 second M6 Gto, 9 second F body, several 11 second cars, but I must say that this truck is the most fun, cause it's a truck. Trucks effin rock. It'll be a while, but I'm sure that when I get back to being able to build another, hands down it'll be a truck, so you're right.
