I was able to take owning a FI truck off my vehicle bucket list and as impressed as I am with the 5.3 I would still like to own a 6.2 truck and mess with that. As much as I don't like the new GM trucks a 6.2 truck with the 10speed sounds temping plus add the fact it is 450lbs lighter makes me think with a tune and e85 you could get one of those 19s in the high to mid 12s possibly. Then you add headers as well and you might see mid to low 12s. Who knows just have to get over the look of them.

I had no idea the fords ran like that with so little. No plans to sell mine since its close to paid for so I will definitely be seeing 11's in the next 12 mo.

I had the '19 6.2 10sp for 24 hours. I felt 0 difference in acceleration from my 6.2/speed.
Like I mentioned earlier, when ford gets the 10speed they knock like a 1/2 second off the 1/4 mile. When GM does it gets slower. (slower because the same acceleration with less weight)
Somehow the fastest l86 truck is the one with the 6 speed. The 8speed is a little slower, and the 10speed is a little slower than that (if they were equal weight).
even the c7 vette gets faster when they switch go from 6speed to 8speed
fords are rocket ships with their new trans
every single manufacturer out there that installs new transmissions with more gears gets faster
not GM trucks

Is it because they have to detune them more for mileage and emissions to hang on to the V8's you think? Gotta be faster after a good tune but then the warranty...can't win with GM.

if they want to create sluggish shifting for part throttle, fine, but at WOT there is no excuse. Evident by every single OEM out there doing a better job at tuning them.
If anything more aggressive trans tuning is better for fuel economy

If the past 20yrs is any indicator, I think GM softens the trans intentionally. Either for comfort, drive train survivability, economy; you name it. You guess is as good as mine. But we've seen it in 4L60s, 4L80s, 6L80s/90 (even in the CTS-V/ZL1).
I dont know why they do it. We all agree it slows the vehicle down, adds wear to the trans and shortens life. My G8 after a tune and trans recalibration was a whole new animal. I would expect the same story with 10spd trucks, provided the trans can be tuned.

Saying that is fine. But yet any other manufacturer beyond GM doesn't have as shitty of shifting stock ( the premise of the last bit of the convo) and it's not hurting their sales. It's not like Mary Mayweather will take a new F150 for a spin and find its trans tuning offensive... they don't. GM just can't tune anything properly... never have and never will. It's why aftermarket software is pretty well a must and you get nothing but "night and day" commentary on naturally aspirated trucks.
