Default TSP VVT-1 camshaft or other???

Well my 05 mustang just sold so it's time to start toying around with the 6.2 I bought back in October. 2 weeks ago I added a set of Kooks 1 7/8" headers with a 3" off road y-pipe. This connects to the factory 3.5" cat-back. Only other mod is a Volant intake and HP tuners tune.

I'm thinking of throwing a cam into the truck, but I'm looking for some insight. All the info on the TSP VVT-1 is kind of dated, I'm look for some recent data. The only reason I am set on TSP if for the simple reason that they provide phaser tables with the purchase of a cam. This will definitely save me from needing to have the truck dyno tuned.

What is the lift of this cam? What are the recommended springs? Can I run beehive springs or even LS9s?

Goal is a quicker DD with little to no loss in low-end torque, I do tow a 7000 lb travel trailer from time to time, so this is a must.

I will not be changing the factory converter or doing a gear swap.

Truck has 3.42s and a 33" tire, so I need to retain as much low end as possible.

I will not be changing anything else on the truck, just camshaft and necessary components.

I do enjoy some lope, and would like to keep my shift points in the low 6k range. I could care less about being sleeper. This truck will never see a quarter mile most likely, unless it's towing my buddies car to it lol.

What are y'alls thought on this cam for my truck/ goals.

Thanks in advance.

I'm in the same boat as you. Been trying to find spec's for the VVT series cams, but haven't gotten anywhere. All their website says for the VVT-1 is that the intake duration is in the low 220's.

Ya now I'm looking at GPI spec'd cam. Look at the power his baby cam made on a full bolt on camaro. Thing makes 400 ft lb torque at 3300 rpm. That's awesome.

Rhino79 is around, and good honest guy. I tow in the summers and had a lot of questions for him, but in the end I backed out b/c I only have 10,000 miles on my rig so I am going to hold out a bit longer. He knows his way around a 6L80 as well. you can PM him may take a few days but he should get back to you.

Ive been pushing the VVT cams a lot, because when the specs are right, they make power everywhere in the curve. Not like a conventional setup that is locked in at 108 icl for example. More tq down low, carries power past peak better.

Guys Im not on here much anymore, but feel free to shoot me an email over to ryan@gogwatney.com. We sponsor Tech, but Im so busy tuning and specing combos these days that I don't have a lot of time to check the forums as much as I should be.

Looks like GPI will be gaining my business. He provides phasing tables and cam specs. I'm very uneasy about ordering a cam from a company that will no release a cam card. I like to know what is in my vehicles
