Default Shifter cable removal help!

Hey all! I got a 2012 Silverado that I need to replace the lower section of my shifter cable and all the stuff I see on how to remove it is on older body styles but my adjuster looks the same. The older body style videos just disconnect the cable and push it together and the cables comes out of the adjuster and pull the clip off and it comes apart. Mine I push it together and the clip is inside the adjuster it doesn’t go together enough to get the clip out of the adjuster plastic to get it out... anyone have a trick to do so or is there another way? Thanks!
