It should work between the ECM and TCM but there are a bunch of subsystems like traction control, stability, abs and most things running through the BCM. Like I said this is what I was told when I started to look into this swap. So I decided I am just going to find an older style 6l80 TCM. You may want to talk with your tuner about this.

As long as the ecm and tcm are flashed with same VIN they will work perfectly. The trick with flashing bcm's is to find a truck that is optioned exactly like yours to avoid warning's for things your truck may not have.
Like my truck doesn't have rear object detection, trailer brakes, or power pedals. So if your truck has these and you were to flash the bcm in your truck using my VIN the DIC would be going nuts saying to service the above subsystems.
I'm sure you are doing a custom tune anyway so unless you are planning on making the tap shift functional I would just leave your bcm alone as it sits and then tune out the passlock in the pcm way freakin easier.

UPDATE ... got the 2010 ECM unlocked and flashed both '10 ECM and 6L80E and everything works .. no issues with BCM or anything along that line .. the tech says its saying that i need BCM reflash to new system but we were afraid to flash 10 system on the 08 bcm so we left it. Everything is working fine...Only issue is the engine now its pulling timing and killing when you get on it and off and also at idle its barely runnin .. i drove to work and most of that issue is resolved but its definitely needing tune you can tell its slow response and sluggish a lot of time.. figuring the 2010 VVT 5.3 program in the ECM is pulling crazy timing for my 08 5.3 with DOD .. trying to get that worked out ASAP ...

LEsson learned if you get the 2010 6L80E with the older Julian DAte for older TCM like in the 07 NNBS and 08 09s your ok with 08 denali vin flash for your 6L80E swap but if you get newer TCM in a 2010 6L80E like i did you need the newer Julian Dateed ECM to go with it ... Ask me how i know
