Default Bypass ride height auto ride auto leveling fancy GM air suspension help needed

Wanting to bypass air ride on a 07 Avalanche LTZ. I installed 3.9 ohm resistors at each shock and they don't work (early 07 and late 07 avalanches had a lot of changes). This is the late model 07 with the new body style. Should I have used the 8 ohm resistors to bypass the dreaded "service suspension system" message? Is the suspension brain mounted over the spare tire? Wouldn't it be easier to tap in resistors it wiring loom in area of spare tire instead of going to each shock ? I am a do it yourself guy and don't do mod kits --nothing to learn there and no challenge. Thanks for helpful hints if anyone knows them.
