NNBS specific V6 to V8 Swap
I know most of the swap will be the same as older model trucks, but does anyone out there have a write-up on an NNBS Specific V6 to V8 Swap? Been searching and so far not finding anything. I was going to put together a swap write-up if there isn't one already.

I don't believe there is an official one for NNBS on here. Feel free to make one

Thanks man. Might just do that.

would love to see this write up before i go buy my new truck.

I'm getting a parts list together. Might have found a pretty good deal on a truck to do the swap in. I'll keep everyone posted.

Im going look at trading in my truck for a new single cab this week and might just get the v6
|
Would also be interested in seeing a write up for the NNBS. Hate my v-6.

I would like to find a truck that already has a V8 in it, But I came across a truck that is a w/t but still has power mirrors, locks, keyless entry, power windows, carpet, and on star. Only problem is that there is just a little too much room in the engine compartment, if you know what I mean. But that can change ;) Will keep everyone posted. *Can any of you NNBS V6 guys get me a few pictures of the intake manifold and y pipe? From what i could see the V6 and V8 Y pipe's look almost identical.* |
Thanks bud
this is my idea i plan on doing... LS3 with LSA heads with Magnacharger 2300 put into a w/t with no power windows no carpet to save on weight. |
Any up dates bud?

Nope... No updates yet. Hopefully more info in the next week or so.

Ok thank you

Refrigeration lines
Fuel lines radiator/efans radiator and heater hoses 4L80 crank spacer if new enough to keep OE v6 tranny or swap bell housing and front pump on existing tranny v8 transmission dipstick tube Harness pcm/tcm thats exact year of vehicle to keep gremlins to a minimum motor mounts. If you go 6 speed and want to keep tap shift gotta go to uplevel bcm and swap cluster and shift handle and flash for appropriate year model and options close to existing truck. reflash fuel pump control module for v8 truck One good complete 07+ 4.8,5.3,6.0 or 6.2 pull out engine or engine and trans combo. Pretty simple and straight forward swap. |
We did v6 to 8 swaps in 3 camaros and a hell of a lot of trucks from 1992 to 2006 and I dont do it unless I buy a parts vehicle. We swap every wire every module and every thing works. Piecing it together is never cheaper and gremlins make you hate your vehicle.

anything ever come of this?

Shot in the dark but still curious.....
If funds allow would like to make this happen in 2015. Know some knowledgeable people but if it's been done before would definitely like some information other than what has been posted/scrounged up and saved on my computer. |
I'm nearly done with this swap, and I have 3 codes left to fix, two of them related to the FPCM that the v8 trucks have, yet the v6 trucks didn't. once I solve that, the swap is done. I used a gen IV engine, 2009 truck harness, and a 2008 E38 ECM that I had reflashed. pretty much goes together with no issues, but I need to fix this fuel pump thing so I can drive it.

These trucks have been out for ten years now. I'm sure more people have gone this swap with success. Thanks |
