Thanks for all the info guys. Yes, it is a '10. That blacked out look is nice...
As far as gas mileage goes... I've been very impressed with mine so far. I'm almost completely sure the dealership put ethanol in there, and that first tank I got 16.35 mpg. That was the first half of the tank on the highway and the other half mixed city and slower highway (65 mph max). It took about 35 miles for the needle to drop below the full line on the highway the first tank, this one (on e85 again) took just under 40, so it looks like it's going about the same again.
That's about as good as my 2000 5.3 ever got over a whole tank recently, on gas.

Update: Tank 2 on e85 got 13.5 mpg. Not too bad I suppose for where I was driving.
I have some more questions now too.
1. Anybody ever get a rhino liner done at Ziebart? I'm just wondering what their quality of installation is. How about the undercoating to protect from rust? Any opinions?
2. I'm just curious. I had almost the identical truck, but a 2000 before. 1500, extended cab, 5.3l, it was a z71 though. Also it had 3.73's in the rear, and the new one has 3.08s (with the 6-speed though...). I looked up the weights and this new one is about 500 lbs heavier from what I could find. Is that right? Which one would be faster? New one supposedly with 500lbs more, 30hp more, worse gears, but the 6-speed (which more than makes up for the lack of rear end ratio though, I checked it).
3. Just curious, but I know that GM really downplayed the power in the F-Body LS1's, but I haven't heard anything about these (I know that was because they wanted it less powerful that the corvette and there isn't a model above this... but still). Are they underrated at all that anybody knows of? Also, when looking at what CAI and catback, etc. manufacturers are claiming to gain for power.... is there a lot of potential in these engines compared to other ones, or is that just advertising/marketing crap?
4. Last question... Motor Trend lists different power numbers for gasoline vs. e85, and I know that theoretically you could get more power out of it, but GM doesn't list two power numbers.... Does anyone know if there really is a power difference in these trucks stock? Here is the motor trend link: http://www.trucktrend.com/features/t...ecs/index.html
Thanks
. I'm definitely enjoying the truck so far. Especially the auxiliary audio input... Never had that before...

First off congrats on the new truck your gunna love it and the 5.3 6-speed combo is a good start. As far as a warranty goes if your worried about it GM makes a Cold Air Intake for your truck as well as a good catback exhaust its based off the borla or corsa designs but with a GM logo. If your not happy with those Volant makes an intake for your truck that bolts right in and for exhaust Corsa has a few choices for you that will fit the new 09-up exhaust coupler but with better configs then the GM unit. With those mods you should be alright as far as warranty goes and they are both good quality top notch pieces but do check with your dealer because every one is different. My dealer says that I can put what ever I want on my truck and not void warranty as long as they install it and tune it but I still havnt tested that out lol. Other then a CAI and exhaust if your dealer is strict there really isnt much more you can do without voiding but another alternative is using factory parts from a higher end model like gears and stuff. Switching over from your 3.08s to say the 3.73s that were offered in some trucks should give you some good acceleration and the dealer can install and change the computer settings there at once. For your liner question if Line X is available i would highly recommend that over rhino liner, it wont fade or chalk and will look new far longer. I have had experience with both and would go with line-X if available and they can liner everything if you want them to like your underside, wheel wells, ect. I too had a older chevy mine was a 01 with the same setup 5.3 ext cab with 3.73s and my new truck stock for stock is faster and my new one is a crew cab 5.3 6-speed with 3.42s the new tranns plays a good part in this for sure it keeps the revs up higher throughout the run then my 01 did stock so it pulls alot better. The new trucks are only rated 40 hp more but idk if thats really true. The new 5.3's have a bigger 90mm intake 87mm TB and 243 heads off the Ls6 z06 engines which flow way more then the older trucks so im not to sure if 40hp is all.
