Default New truck :)

So, a few days ago I got a new truck.... Very happy with what I got so far.

I was looking for the cheapest thing I could find with the 5.3L, 4x4, and extended cab, so I ended up getting an LT with no options at all except the power pack for the 5.3L (and the $195 paint, but they didn't charge me extra because the truck I drove 175 miles to see was gone when I got there). Exactly what I wanted . MSRP was $34,745 and I got it for $24,909 with a nice sale they had going and GM discount

Bad phone pics, sorry.

I couldn't figure out what was going on with my gas mileage at first (nowhere near the supposed 21 highway that the epa says), until I realized they probably filled it up with ethanol because it's cheaper. Sooo... I smelled the exhaust... smelled funny, so I'm assuming there is ethanol in there. lol

Now my question... Can I get a couple little things (CAI and catback maybe) without voiding my warranty, or do I have to wait?

Also, can I buy parts for the 2007-2009 trucks (again, CAI or catback probably), or did they change things somehow so that won't work?

Thanks guys!

PS, it drives like a cadillac compared to my old truck

your MAF is molded into the air box, just cut it out and put a CAI on there. they make Pacesetter LTs for our year now so no long have to use the 99-07classic LTs, unless you get them cheap.

magnaflow exhaust 24" case if your going with no cats, 14" if your keeping your cats.

3000 stall and a custom tune, stay away from the handhelds they are worthless!!!

whatever you modify will void that area of the warranty (is what my dealership told me) if you add the exhaust, the V8/V4 mode is gonna drive you crazy. It did to me....
you'll hear it switching back and fourth with the aftermarket. I got it removed with my tuner.
nice truck by the way.... you should color match!!!

Nice truck . The intake MAF is different as well as the exhaust. There is a 3rd cat or resonator and there isnt a flange for a 'cat back' exhaust. Look under skipperdaddys threads and you'll see what Im talking about(or look under your truck )

i added a muffler to my truck, one of those knock-off flowmasters. you can definitely tell when the 4cylinder cut off hits, makes a strange noise to the truck, but it doesn't bother me enough to wanna take it off. The biggest issues with warranty comes with bigger tires. I've caught hell with mine so far, but they sold me the truck with over-sized wheels so I just have to argue with them alot every time something happens.

Nice truck, congrats on the purchase
It's a '10 I assume?

As far as fuel mileage, I had to drive down to Ogdensburg today (115Mi roundtrip) and decided to do everything I could to maximize fuel economy (even Priuses were passing me) just to see how close I could get to the EPA's figures, and to compare to whenever I remove the AFM. Using the trip computer I used 6 gallons, so I averaged about 20mpg, so the rating aren't THAT far off.

As mentioned, MAF is one piece with the airbox, so you'll either have to cut it out (cheap way) or buy a 07-08's MAF and install it in an 07-08 CAI (more expensive). I've never had any problems with warranty or service.

As far as I know, you can bolt up 07-08 cat-backs if you choose to delete the 3rd cat/resonator, but don't take that info to the bank, I'm not sure if there's any clearance problems with the 6-speed.

Blackjack325, truck looks great blacked out!

Right you are, just took a peek under an 09; the 3rd cat/resonator is part of the Y...I stand corrected

FYI, there are companies out there that make CAIs for the newer 09-Up NNBSs, I've got an aFe ( http://afepower.com/shop/details_new...09&&brandID=53 ) on mine and it sounds/works great, even comes with a piece of rubber hose and bung for the breather line. For exhaust, I just brought mine to a shop and had a Magnaflow welded in, sounds great and doesn't drone when AFM kicks in.
