my 07 nbs q/m times! read!
alright guys, this has amazed me, and even wheatley was stunned at this trucks progress!!
check it out...
when i first ran the truck out at temple academy raceway, she ran a 16.4 bone stock. not bad for a full weight crew cab.
i got charlie to tune it up for me, and i did one run down again at temple, and pulled a 15.9, my 60's were sluggish, and it just didnt feel like a great run, but i was short on time, and my wife was getting bit by mosquitos and bitching, so i left....
last thursday, i ran it again, and it was a great night out there, cool, low humidity, and i just installed the cai kit. i got on the line, did a NICE burnout, got the tires really warmed up. pulled up to the line... stalled it up nice, and got a great start, no spin at all, and she just started pulling and didnt stop! i was racing another member on here, dakotakiller5.3, who has pulled a best e/t of 14.10 now this night was a test and tune night, no slips were being passed out, just the time up on the board, but i couldnt see what i pulled in that run. but in that run, i wasnt but maybe 2 lengths behind him at the trap. He didnt beat me bad at ALL!
now! i had another friend out there to watch, and i told him to watch my next pass, and tell me what the board said.
same thing again, stalled her up, great launch, pulled hard as hell, i was racing one of those new cobalt cars, and i got about 3 lengths on him at the trap, and i turned out a god damn 15.08!!!
THAT! is freaking unheard of, IMO, with a crewcab, with exhaust, tune, and a cai, almost a second and a half! out of a 5.3! i think i bought a beast!!!
this truck has the 799 cast heads, but a HORRID throttle response with the TAC issues, wich i have read up on here. That needs to be fixed ASAP! with a little weight reduction, and possible some 4.10's to really get the truck moving, im thinking of seeing 14's with MINIMUM mods.

The gains with a good tune are going to be huge. My truck hasn't ran any better than a 15.8 on GM 20's and bone stock. I will eventually compare my times with tuning changes. You will be in the 14's with some 17" wheels and shorter tires.
