Default LS3-L94 swap in Sierra Denali

my L94 is getting pretty tired, (227k miles). I’m on a short time frame to freshen it up due to my work schedule. I have a total of 7 days to complete everything so going through the one I have is out. I can buy a 525hp LS3 from fm cheaper than an L94 so that’s the route I’m going. I know I’m losing vvt which I’m fine with but as far as the swap goes all I have to swap engine wise is the pan and intake correct? Other than a tune it’s basically the same as far as I can tell. Anything specific I should look out for?

it will be a straight drop in swap and yes all you need to swap will be the intake and oil pan/pick up tube....but the cam that comes with that engine is a horrible cam for a heavy 4 door truck...you would be better off going with a regular 430HP LS3 and swapping out the cam for a truck specific cam from Cam Motion or BTR (both offer multiple cams that will work with the stock LS3 springs and pushrods)...also you should have an L9H not an L94....L94 have AFM, I don't know of any Trucks that came with the L94 only the SUVs.....

My mistake on the L9H. I knew it was basically an ls3 with vvt and different intake. I’ll get with John Bewley for my cam options . Changing springs won’t be a big deal if I need to and I can do a trunion upgrade while it’s apart. I’ve already got a built trans with circle d converter that has helped get it moving. Thanks for the reply! 👍🏼
