Hmmm, I wonder what the difference is on your trucks. I did this several times on three different shocks and never had an issue:

my driverside shock is leaking, im thinking of running some qa1's on it. my beware of flipped rears was i had about 800lbs in the bed and was killing the bump stops before my notch and it broke the welds on my bed side under the passenger tail light
