looking at getting an air intake for my 6.2

i jus ordered me a borla xr-1 muffler so i figured i might as well get an intake also should i jus get the air raid tube and a K&N drop in filter or should i get a full air intake and if so which one do yall suggest looking to order one asap so i can put them on at the same time

I have had both the Jr Kit and the MXP. If your on a budget, the JR kit is OK, but the MXP box allows you to make a ram air intake and the filter is way larger and doesn't needs cleaned nearly as often. I've seen a noticeable difference in performance between the two, but it's not substantial. maybe 5 or 10 HP. The MXP box isn' cheap, but I think it was worth buying after getting it.

On the headers, I bought the OBX LT's for the 6.2L for $700 shipped and I am happy for a budget header. They fit fight up and are performing well. I just need to get some locking bolts. I would recommend that right off the bat. Here is another post with a video clips in the thread.

KN panel filter and Airraid jr intake tube are the quick, simple and cost effective
option.

lots of choices for headers, budget being a factor, smog test a factor, and if you in DFW corrosion is not a factor.

$5-600 to $1400-1500 for kooks or arh

What size xr-1 did you get?

This is the one I got. What you think?

Looks like a great choice. I didn't like the way my xr-1 sounded but it's my own fault for getting a really short, round one.

Get the airaid tube, anything else is a waste. There is a dyno comparison thread of intakes that Justin (blackbear tuning) did and the best 2 were the airaid jr and volant, both gaining like 8 hp.

ok so jus the airaid tube over a full cold air intake? even if i plan on getting headers soon and then cam eventually?

Yes, the improved tube and stock box can move plenty of air.
