l9h 6.2 cam swap
hello, long story short I added the lsa blower, long tube headers, and lsa blower to my 09 Silverado with 6.2. well I took the blower off because it was horrid mpg while pulling loads as most of the time it would be in boost. so now it is a na truck with ls9 cam in it. well I really do not care for the lack of down low grunt so it gear hunts and still not all that great of mpg compaired to the stock vvt setup. wondering is there any good vvt cam that I can pickup decent power along with the same or better mpg?

yeah like with stock vvt cam in when I would do 65 no wind I could see 20 pretty easy. now I see 18 going down hill with a wind behind me and any faster then 65 it drops pretty quick, along with now down low grunt.

Did you add timing back to the main timing table after getting rid of the vvt? I had no complaints with my ls9 cam. Towed fine and got better mileage then when I had stock with vvt.

I as well have a 2010 Sierra SLE with the L9H 6.2L that i actually bought to haul my project truck around to carshow's with. I've currently got a Corsa Performance CAI ( just a rebranded Volant System ) , 93 Octane Tune and long tube headers. Its a daily driver/Long distance driver so i am looking for a smooth idle cam that requires no aftermarket stall converter but will pickup some decent power. I drive the truck everyday in Knoxville TN Traffic and on the weekends i head back to Alabama to see the family. I already have a 97 Model pickup )the project truck) that i have already LS swap'd and have built with a radical cam swap headers ect. so im looking for something that will give my daily a little more power without the choppy radical sound but will still be good for hauling/towing. I have saw everywhere , where the LS9 Cam swap is the best all around stock cam swap for these trucks but as said prior in this thread ; they rob lower end torque due to not being VVT. My question is , is there a VVT cam on the market that's like a towing cam that i can put in my truck to help its power without a choppy sound? Could i maybe get a supercharger cam or some kind of custom ground cam that would work?
