Default Has anyone ?

Has anyone successfully replace there steering rack bushings?
My steering rack bushings are shot and now my front tires are shot because of the slop in my steering.
I have heard of and seen the parts for replacing the bushings but, I have yet to find actual evidence of someone doing it. I cant find any videos only talk about it at all.

This is the set I'm looking at
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Arm-Bushing...53.m1438.l2649

The majority of the threads I have read come down to replacing the entire rack. A lot of people bring up about the parts list how it states "not serviceable" on GMs parts sites.
If they're not serviceable, why would they sell the parts separately?

I'm just curious who has done this?
And
How they went about doing it?

I did it on a 06/07c vehicle, wasn't too bad. Just like any other bushing replacement. If that's the only thing causing the slop, then you can replace them. Usually there are other factors and that's why replacing the entire rack makes the most sense.

I appreciate the info ILuvJDM

Fortunately the steering is the only issue, replaced my uppers and lowers last year and my tie rods are still good.
I ended up ordering them tonight and hope to get them Saturday to install them Sunday. My tires are on there last leg.

They should come with their own lube, at least my energy suspension ones did. It's a very tacky grease that is formulated for poly bushings and does not clean up easy

ok I know what you're talking about.
The only thing is, these have metal sleeves and I know they're going to be a huge pita to install with super tight tolerances.
I'll look around this weekend for some of that grease.

They came in.
If anyone else is in the same boat as me, here's there info. You can get them on Amazon or eBay.
This is what you'll get.
I'm trying to figure out the whole pressing situation.
I'll update as I progress

Installed them today. Super easy to install.
I got home early yesterday to prep. Jacked it up, took the wheels off, put it on jack stands and put some safety blocks under it.

The only thing to note is, the bushings have to be put in a certain way because there is an alignment washer that goes in between the rack and crossmember. This washer press fits onto the bushings as you torque it down to assure they will not rotate.
Make sure the washer is aligned correctly or the bolts will go in cockeyed and put unnecessary stress on the bushing and will cause premature wear, then you'll have to do this all over again.
Other wise, it was a simple job and took the better part of the morning. And since I didn't break anything, throw anything or curse then entire install, this was a win haha and went very smoothly.
I did not install the round bushing that goes around the passenger side of the rack as you need a crimp and tool to remove the boot and tie rod.
Sorry, Didn't take any pictures.
If you have any questions feel free to ask.
