Default Help On New Silverado..Gear Ratio

I went in the dealer today and sat down and told them exactly what I wanted. Well an hour later they called back and found me exactly what I wanted. Everything was good till he told me that he thought that when he found it I might would be concerned about the gear in it. Its got I think a 3.42 gear in it. I do haul my bike around in a trailer from time to time and do haul a trailer but nothing heavy. The only heavy, heavy hauling i might do is I might haul my 02 camaro to Tennessee, 8 hours away. I was just wondering if in the long run, if I should have gone with 3.73. What should I do? Thanks

Joseph

Can you give us the details on the truck??

I have 3.42s in my truck but only a 29" tire... i tow a good bit.. but the 6L and turbo help out with that..

When it was stock i towed 12k lbs a few times... big ditch witch... but never towed anything that heavy for along time..

Just give us the rest of the specs....

the etra gear would give you a little more grunt... but you should be ok towing with the 3.42 the load will just feel like its a lil harder to pull

if your planning on towing in 4th at least do a good 4th servo... i have the sonnax superhold billet from FLT and i would never look back --->
