Help with electrical problems

So im driving home in my 08 Tahoe last night and suddenly all my lights (headlights and every light in the cab) go's dim, the volt gauge drops from 14 to about 10 and the battery light comes on, and the dash says service charging system. Stays this way maybe a half a mile, then everything go's back to normal. Its instant, like the flip of a switch, it probably did it 15 times in the 35 mile drive home. Battery is good, it fired right up at the house this morning. Any idea where to start with this?

It sounds like a loose ground somewhere. It could also have corrosion on the battery terminals. I would clean and tighten the battery connections first.

I believe there is a known issue with the connection under the fuse box coming loose on those.

Also clean the big flat fuse off the battery, it's right on the firewall and they're know for causing symptoms like what you described.

Sounds like the alternator is going out... I have seen negative cables on the battery do strange things but never says service charging system.... Most likely a Alternator.

Thanks for thr help guys! I have an alternater I can use to swap out and test, and ill go through and check everything mentioned!

Ended up being the alternater, switched it out and everything works great. That was a new one for me... D1SCSS nailed that one on the head. Thanks again all you guys!
