Do you really need to change the valley cover when doing a DOD delete?

Why do you need to change the valley cover when doing the DOD delete?

I believe it has to do with blocking passages as well as keeping pressure.
Why have flowing oil going through passages that are not necessary and not in use.

You need to block the standoff's that the solenoids attach too in the lifter valley to keep oil pressure from bleeding off. The non AFM valley cover has dimples with o-rings to block those passages.... like a cover off a Gen IV 4.8, iron 6 liter or LS3 is exactly what you need.
