Yeah, I liked the Z71 Appearance Package and the All Terrain package with their appearance features and such, but I wanted a front bench and 3.73s and couldn't get those options with either package, so NHT it is. Pisses me off how every option is inextricably tied to another that is unrelated; I'd like to have an All Terrain or Z71 AP with a cloth, six-seat interior and the 3.73 rear. Modern car companies suck.

^^ that. Nowadays you're forced into picking packages that have way more crap than you want just to get one or two things you REALLY want, and then you find out that the package prohibits you from getting something else you want. It was a lot better for us picky gearheads back when you could select each and every option you wanted on the order sheet. Of course the car companies weren't making quite as many billions in profit then.

I must be getting old ....

I'm 26 and it bothers me. I understand why the Max Trailering Package is stuck with everything it comes with (tow rating), but preventing those who order an offroad package from getting lower gears makes no sense whatsoever. Lower gearing can really help you out off road; why the heck can't I order it? And the inability for you to select a console delete in favor of the middle seat in an All Terrain or Z71 Appearance Package? What the hell does the seating configuration have to do with an offroad package???

Oh well, one of these days I'll throw some decent shocks under the truck and shove in a VVT cam, longtubes, and a stainless exhaust, and quit bitching about it.

I was trying to spec out a new Avy for my boss. At 65 he needs the navigation and rear view camera, but has no need for the $1000 SUNROOF tied to the other two options.

There ya go. Perfect example. I wanted the aux and usb inputs for the stereo but didn't really care if I had a power seat or a digital climate control, but they come together as a package. Digital climate control just seemed silly to me; it doesn't do anything that you can't do with the regular dual-zone.

Yes it does- the digital control will die within a few years. The manual controls last forever.

True. Hence my desire not to have them. But alas, I had no choice in the matter. On the plus side, I've been in many GMs with the manual dual climate, and should have no problem acquiring one when this one is done for

heh, the sad thing is i sold my stock 20's and tires for 1650$ so all i got for the all terrain package was a badge that will soon be removed, floor mats, and painted grille. coulda got the grille painted somewhere for cheap AND had 3.73's. oh well. too much money to spend elsewhere.
I kinda want it for towing though. should i just get a mild VVT cam and everything will be fine? only towing a 20ft -23ft lightweight holiday trailer....
