Dissapointed

Got my truck tuned and it only made 306 hp to the wheels and 320 something torque
I have a 5.3 with a k&n, slp u/d pulley, shorty headers, 3.73 gears, slp exhaust....are those numbers accurate or am I just thinking about it to much

m3srt 09-01-2009 01:26 AM

i think the 5.3's come with about 260 stock so take it from there ,

pretty good numbers with just bolt on's

viciousknid 09-01-2009 01:27 AM

on a Mustang Dyno I presume?
Who did the tune?
Shorty's are a waste of money and likely gained you nothing.

If it helps. My 03 5.3 with LT headers, 3" single exhaust, built trans, 3.42 gears and custom tune put down 284/290 on a mustang dyno.

i assume his shorty's r JBA that came with the Regency so not really a waste of his money lol. if u want more power look at heads, cam, intake, LT's, tune, maybe efans if its not 05+...

viciousknid 09-01-2009 01:35 AM

ohh. didn't know the RST's came with shorties. Learned something new.
If that was on a mustang dyno it's really good for how little is done to it. If on a dyno jet it seems about right.

definitely decent numbers. Get some LTs and you'll see some gain. I wouldnt expect a shit load of HP out of the motor tho. My 6.0 with practically no tune (other than driveability) made 325. I wouldnt be too bummed if I were you
