perfect for us nnbs guys, im getting one

Derek @ EDO 04-04-2008 01:14 AM

25+ hp huh?

Parke10 04-04-2008 01:38 AM

omg ahahhaa :nono:

BLACK04VHO 04-04-2008 08:15 AM

yeah they made claims a few years ago when they came out with the original kit. They couldn't prove any of their claims. So take this with a grain of salt about anything they say.

dlt76028 04-04-2008 10:11 AM

come on guys it PROMISES 25hp-50hp gain! its a no brainer :eyes:

texas1964 04-04-2008 12:00 PM

A ram air intake is kinda cool and surely will help somewhat. Banks has a nice looking ram air intake but not for gas engines yet. Have a look at http://bankspower.com/newproducts-2-06ra.cfm

Red04Silverado 04-04-2008 12:48 PM

No way 25HP, I have a ramair set up on my 04 Silverado and around 60mph I feel it and its not 25HP more. I do like the setup VR has for the NNBS trucks. Wonder what that monster costs????

Derek @ EDO 04-04-2008 12:55 PM

I would call them and say " Im going to buy one of these things and install it, then go to a local dyno and if i dont see a 25+ HP gain i expect a full refund and i keep the intake!"

xchevyx24 04-04-2008 01:28 PM

i wouldnt think it would flow that well because of that flexable tubing if it was a smooth solid piece i would think about getting it.

They'll tell you to it's gotta performed it in a wind tunnel to get real results.. :p

circusboy 04-04-2008 05:27 PM

$369 not a bad price. What did they use to relocate the MAF. Does someone make an extension cable? I have a CAI designed on my computer at work, but would require the MAF to be relocated and the hood modified

Y2KLimited 04-05-2008 11:42 PM

I've got rammed in air

BlueSS 04-09-2008 08:36 AM

ne body tried one yet? 25hp is a ridiculous clame i think. Correct me if i'm wrong that ribbed tube shouldn't affect anything should it since it's before the filter there is no ribs after the filter. It would be nice if they could fabricate something smooth, it would just look a lot better.

chevy32 04-09-2008 10:18 AM

I dont thinknyou will be able to see the ribbed part that much but it would be kool if it was smoothed out I might buy one to test it out if no else will

JB1 04-09-2008 11:13 AM

look at the install instructions with pics...that looks like junk. That dryer tubing is almost touching the pulleys :eyes:

you have gotta be fucking joking... everything I have ever seen that name on is junk, and performs ilke absolute crap that it is...

from their site...

Tech Note - Important for custom tuning

Tuning using any aftermarket programmers- call us direct 713-477-8100 for info on this. During static
dyno testing we witnessed “EVERY TRUCK” range from a 15.2-14.1 airfuel at idle to a part throttle 12.5-
13.2 to a wide open reading of an amazingly rich 10.0-10.7 airfuel ratio in stock OEM form. This included
all 4.8,5.3 and 6.0 trucks. All of these trucks and SUV’s have a huge amount of torque management, some
of this is removed by the programmers, but for those of you who do dyno, watch your airfuel ratio when the
converter really comes in. We like to see static WOT airfuel ratios of 13.2-13.5 for better mileage the ECU
will fine tune the rest.
What to expect and how to use it best on the road
Throttle response and low end power is the 1st thing you will notice. You will also notice that you won’t
need more than 1/4-1/2 throttle to move the vehicle at any decent pace, going to full throttle immediately
will not do much because of Torque management –(its job is to avoid you shocking the driveline by putting
to much Torque to quickly to the tires) it will suck gas like crazy when you do this unless the truck has
been tuned by use of a programmer or a full custom tune.
½ second drops off of 0-60mph time and .3 and +3mph in the ¼ mile times are the norm.

A-Dub 04-09-2008 12:09 PM

WTF, mileage at wide open throttle? Did they really say that? Since when do you tune WOT A/F for mileage.

nightrunner 04-09-2008 03:27 PM

did they really say .3/3mph gain in the 1/4 from a CAI? lol

their C5 vette stuff worked pretty well.

buddy tried a first version of their truck stuff on his 03 avalanche and had nothing but problems with it, to the point they took it back and he has a credit with them.

Way back when I had a vararam on my old Z06...I didn't notice much of a difference over stock. Used another air intake on my NA car and well the boost vette.....its got its own air intake of sorts.

L7 Sierra 07-05-2008 02:03 AM

I had a ram air on a old Nova, and it did gain something. I don't know if it was 25 horse, but its was more then the 15 I got from exhaust on my truck.

Sean01 07-06-2008 11:51 PM

½ second drops off of 0-60mph time and .3 and +3mph in the ¼ mile times are the norm.

Wow thats crazy you get a gain of 6 tenths up to 60mph and then between there and end of the quarter mile you give back 3 tenths? I guess the ram air effect doesnt work to well over 60.:D

Sean01 07-06-2008 11:54 PM

I had one on our vette, what a pita to install. Even if it did take a tenth off my time it wasnt worth the install.:turd: But if it can take half a second off your 0-60 time ill take 2

ext 4.8 pewter 07-23-2008 09:50 AM

damn i think im the only one that dident have problems with this stuff it worked great im my truck especially in cold weather
