Blackbear and E85

Justin is always really busy so figured I would get members experience first...

So, if I have a 93 octane tune loaded in my 6.2 from Justin and put E85 in my truck will I get a performance gain? Ie will the PCM increase timing by itself or does Justin always increase the E85 tables?

Or am I completely off base??:eyes:

Last time I emailed Justin I asked that question:

"Does it have separate tables so that when I switch to E-85 the timing will increase enough to take advantage of the extra knock resistance?"

His reply:

"Yes sir, it certainly does."

Thanks Phil, okay so what is your personal experience with using E85? Feel any difference? Any track times to compare? I have an E85 station about 25min from where I live and am wondering if its worth the drive?

I think there's a difference in performance, but I don't really trust my butt-dyno all that much because it's too easily influenced by what I think or what I want to feel. So far I've only raced on 92, but when my local track opens in early march this year I plan to give it a go with E-85 just to see if there's any real benefit in my truck with my tune. I like it for the cleaner burning anyway.

The only downside is that after 9,000 miles of using premium and alcohol on and off, I calculated that in my normal in-town driving it costs me about two cents a mile extra to use the E-85. You would have to factor in the extra drive as well - I'm lucky that there's a station just about three miles from home.

I'll definitely post here when I get a chance to test it at the track.
