what are best mods for $1000 on 5.3 z71.Looking for gas milage and towing already have 4 race cars so not wanting a hot rod just better daily driver.Been tring to get nelson tune with diablo predater but $450 seems high is it worth it.Dont want to change computer so I was thinking handheld would be better for me as I will change tire and rim size from summer to winter (265 to 305).Been tring to get a hold of nelson and wheatly for months and cant get a response to buy it so I'm wondering if they have any service after sell if I cant even get them to call me back to buy one.Any help would be appriciated had this truck since oct. its now feb. just getting frustaited with this. any part # on mods would be nice.

For $1000, cam, corvette servos and a tune. You can pick up a lightly used cam, pushrods and springs in the classifieds here, and you and a couple of friends can put it in over the weekend.

And send Wheatley a PM. He is a busy guy, but stands behind his tunes. I wouldn't get anyone else to tune my truck.

Honstly for towing I'd want to gear swap. What you got on a 2009? I'd want 4.10's and there goes the $1k with a decent differential.

Also look at a shift kit, tranny cooler and maybe buying a used HPT or EFI tuning kit.

gears don't void warranties. Neither does a good transmission cooler.

Im guessing you guys like wheatly any feedbacks on nelson. does wheatly do custom tunes on a predater, Nelson does that is why I was leaning toward him.Dont want to change computer for tune would prefer handheld because I change tire size often.

+1 on the trans cooler if you do a lot of towing. A tune will definitely help mpg I went from 16 to 20 on the hwy, 12 to 15 in the city.
