another 6.2 with engine noise
My engine started the cold start engine tick when the weather got colder, but the last few times I started on much warmer days, it was making much more noise. Sounds a little louder than lifter noise. Truck only has 11,000 miles!! I wont be able to take it in for a couple weeks cause I will be out of town.
I have seen other posts for 6.2 engine noise. Were any of those actual lifter issues or were they all piston/wrist pin problems?

Allgonoshow's was a wrist pin issue and I'm starting to think mine is a wristpin issue aswell. I don't think these 6.2's have any valvetrain issues but I could be wrong. Let us know how you make out, good luck.

A lot go undiagnosed honestly and even more not on the net at all. I had an 09 2500HD with a LY6 6 liter ( so same lifters as any non AFM engine like the 6.2) and it's lifters fell apart, literally. One wiped the lobe off the cam with just over 60000 miles on the truck and the rest were in poor shape as well. That trucked ticked loud from day one. I would say it could be either or.......

The last time I ran it, it was very noisy when I first started it. I let it warm up around five minutes and when I left I could hear it knocking above 1000 rpm. This lasted for a minute or so then went away. Im starting to think it might be a lifter. I.ve heard piston slap before and it sounded different. And for the dealer telling you it was adjusting timing, I think they are feeding you a load of

The strange thing is my boss has a 2010 escalade with 60,000 miles on it and his dad has 2010 denali with higher miles on it and they both are quiet and sound normal, and they both just jump in them drive off without letting them warm up at all.I've been in both trucks when they do it and listened for it. Hell I think the denali has only had like 3 oil changes since he bought it new! I don't get it.

It's simple really as why some do and some don't honestly. Some are properly assembled with parts that don't fail, and some aren't. The problem always is which one did you get? That said really what does it matter, according to GM everything is "normal" anyhow.
