The only reason shops recommend a TH400 is because they don't know how to build an 80e well. It's been proven time and again that a well built 80e can handle 1000rwhp in a heavy truck and over1500 in some lighter vehicles. Nevermind the fact that you lose the good gearing of the 80e and have to solve the speedo issue with the 400. Just seems like a stupid swap to me.

Yeah I would try a 80e first before a 400. Rossler pretty much has me sold on there terminator 4 4l80 especially since it is built to handle over 1800hp and one of the higher end transmission companies.

Stock transmissions handling 700hp seems pretty stout. I wouldn't think it would be long before someone has them handling more power considering what they can handle stock.

I plan to run my stock 6l80 till she blows. Hopefully by then they will have more work being done to them and someone will have a great setup to handle more power.

I wouldn't mind running mine till it blows but my truck has been down a few moths already with this new engine build so to have it running again and then have to down it because it broke would really suck. I wan to take care of everything the first time around and not be constantly messing with broken parts. I mean it's gonna happen but might as well do it now. The highest hp rating I have seen for a 6l80-90 is 1200 rwhp and that's from PATC, who claim it will take that abuse all day. There way of accomplishing this is by modifying the 1-3 gear with beefed up power glide parts. I really don't know how this is done as there really isn't much info at all on them. Not to mention I couldn't find anyone using one so who knows.

Quick question for you tech guys... If I run a aftermarket transmission controller then I don't have to change any wiring or computer right? No reflashing or really any tuning?
