Recommended fuel is 87 octane regular unleaded for all trucks other than the 6.2. Recommended fuel can be found on the inside of the fuel filler door. In fact, fueling with a fuel of a higher octane than necessary can cause excess fuel to pass unburnt, which will worsen fuel economy as well as shorten the life of components like catalytic converters. How "bad" is your fuel economy anyway?

I am getting an average of 15 sometimes 14. The best I have had is 18.5 with the whole tank being interstate miles. I go by actual calculations also

the way i look at it is if you need gas, you need it. if your worried about MPG dont buy a truck, get a Honda civic.

My thought is that if I want 30+ mpg, I'll get a little car. If I want to drive more than 260 miles from home through the desert in comfort with my wife and friends/family, I'll have to have a big truck that gets more than 10mpg. Considering that my Jeep averaged around 14-15mpg on a daily basis, that's my goal for the Silverado 6.2. I think it's attainable. It's not so much of a deal about max mpg for me, it's more about range per 26-gallon tank, although I certainly wouldn't argue with averaging 14-15 instead of the 11.5-12.5 my brand-new truck gets now.

why is it that evertime this question gets asked somebody has to give the sterotypical answer of "If your worryed about MPG buy a car" how about a legitment answer of it gets approx X in the city and X on the highway...

Im with you rjwz28, i'd definetly feel better about the purchase if it was averaging around 13-14 in the city. My commute is like 70%Highway/30%City.

Hmmm, just about the same trucks and one guy gets 100% better mileage.
