Oh yeah I'm on 285/70-17 DuraTracs. On stock tires or shorter this truck feels like it would be a real animal.

Yeah I was just gonna say that, since I just read it in an unrelated thread :wtf:

 

I have done quite a few runs in 2WD and 4X4 and am sticking with 4WD launches and shifting to 2WD after I shift out of first. After pulling the ABS fuses to remove all traction control I couldn't hook for **** in 2WD. Tried both stock tires and the street tires I picked up and all I would do is spin till 3rd gear.
Yea not sure how I read that wrong.. Yes my truck is 4x4...which is what I thought he was asking.

 

Yeah I feel like I would do the same thing on the stock rubber or anything shorter, but on the fatter, taller, heavier Duratracs I spin hard off the line but then hook and keep pulling from there. If I launch in 4x4 it feels slower.

 

Hmm my 4x4 launches feel pretty aggressive, actually got them to chirp going into second gear a couple times. I would like to get some slicks or better tires to try but with the season coming to an end I don't want to drop that much money

 

Who did your tune? 93 or 91?

 

AKlowrider and 90.. don't think I have seen 91 from a pump up here.

 

Man, that's a hard running truck! I'm curious what tire size you're running, and what body style your truck is. My new EC ran a best of 15.2 with your same motor, 4WD launch and 3.73 gears but like rj said, the same 285/70-17 tire size as he has. You're beating me by more than a second so I'm curious if that's all in the tune or what.

I'm still strictly stock; tune on the way.

 

Damn Phil, it's been so long since I've seen photos of your truck that I forgot you were EC and thought you had a CCSB like me oh well, I really doubt if my setup weighs anything more than yours at this point anyway. Yeah, a tune will really wake that truck up, you'll feel it and love it. I'm trying to FI my truck right now, it's just a matter of getting my ducks in a row
