Default 5.3 to 6.2???

My brother in law has been thinking about swapping out his 5.3 for a 6.2 truck/SUV engine. His truck is a 2010 with a 6speed automatic. Is it as simple as swapping the engines and a retune? Will his wiring harness and computer work and plug into everything on the 6.2 or will he need to get a harness and computer with the 6.2? Will the front drive accessories swap over or will he need those also?

Pull out 5.3 drop in 6.2 and retune it no other mods needed. Its same as pulling out a 305 and dropping in a 350 EVERYTHING is identical.

That's what I was thinking. I didn't know if injector plugs or sensors plugs were different. Sounds like a straight forward job. Is the intake the same as well? Thanks

I would just use all the stuff off the truck and swap it onto the 6.2

I don't know if you have motor or not yet but from I have seen in the past a salvage yard motor even with higher mileage is within a grand to 1500 of a fresh crate motor. So depending on prices you've seen the last L92 I priced was around 4500 if my memory serves me right and has a 3 year 100K mile warranty.

That swap is gonna be well worth it the first time he hits the go pedal. I had an 09 ltz cc with the 5.3 engine and the 6speed tranny with 3.42's and factory 20's. I test drove a Denali and I was sold. I traded that lil 5.3 in so fast I cant hardly remember what they gave me for it. lol

No we haven't got an engine yet. At first he wanted to supercharge his 5.3, but then started to think about the 6.2. I like the 6.2 idea a lot better because we could put a stock reliable 6.2 in (he already has long tubes and cold air) then retune it. He is currently on blackbear autocal, and it should haul ***.
