i see what your talking about here. ive done body work before and worked with 3m ad remover before many times. it actually oxidizes the plastic that it touches. to be honest, there really isnt any way, that ive found, to get the white spots off plastic. your best bet might be having to paint them now....

Use a rag and wipe the plastic down with a light grade machine oil and rub it in really good. Once you wash the mirrors a couple of times it will be ok and will not attract dust after it is washed off. It just needs time to sit and soak into the plastic.
I've used gun oil with good results on bringing back dead plastics.

Try Vinegar First,we use it to take lime off the machines at work,just regular Vinegar like you use at home,It want hurt anything on the truck just rinse it off..
it also works great to take water spots off the glass and paint before waxing.
then use Armorall for a nice finish...
Don't use anything rough,that might damage the finish!
