Default 2011 2500HD muffler replacement

I'm sure this topic has been covered but I'm searching on my mobile and not having much luck. Pops is looking to get a little more growl out of his truck, 6.0.......trying to keep it under 100 so a cat back system isn't an option, looking for a single 3.5" in/3.5" out for ease of Installation. He's pushing 60 so doesn't want it super loud (otherwise I'd put an aero turbine in there and call it a day), and of course minimal drone is preferred, thoughts/comments/recommendations?

I know dynomax makes two different style mufflers in that size. Pretty sure the mufflers are less than 100 each on summit.

I have a dynomax cat-back in my 5.3 Silverado, sounds great with no drone at all on the open road.

I saw those, i was hoping for input from someone that's ran them, the other option I was considering was hooker aerochambers, I replaced a set of flowmasters with those a few years back on a 383 stroker i had. To the best of my recollection they sounded decent without much drone.

I'm going to do a 3.5" single large oval case Borla XR1 on my 2017 6 liter HD and keep the rest of the piping. Even with catless long tubes on my 04 with dual 3" in/out 15" XR1's the interior and exterior tone is pretty mild. Add cat's and cast manifolds to that scenario and it will be pretty mellow.

Problem with that will be the under $100 thing lol.

Yeah I think that dynomax might be the way to go for him, I've been really happy with my magnaflow "glasspacks" but they don't come in 3.5"

That's the limitation being the size. Maybe like an MBRP or even a shuttleworth chambered bottle.. those are available in 3.5".

I just had a jones suprer duty muffler installed in my denali. 3.5" in/out, 26.5" long case, 7" round, strait through. Im very pleased with it. Nice deep rumble, no drone inside and only cost $62 on eBay. Best part was no extra pipe was needed to make it fit the stock catback

Part number SD726-7D
