Either 3.73 or 4.11, I haven't decided yet. I was set on 3.73 but now am leaning to 4.11.

This is going to cost more than expected if I use all Yukon parts and need a front carrier. I was also going to do a truetrac. 2 ring and pinions, 2 install kits, rear posi and front carrier. Would have been nice to have the 3.73 from the factory.

And I'll have a local shop do it, I don't trust myself to install it correctly. They said 350/axle if I supply all the parts.

Dang, Estimated Total $1,540.21 from Summit, after handling charge.
Add in $760 install cost after tax and some fluid, I'm looking at $2350 for a damn gear swap.

Can somebody convince me that using all Yukon parts is worth the cost? USA Standard gear from Rons would be MUCH easier on the wallet! This is a DD that I'm planning to drive for as long as possible, like till I retire in 30 years.

I would at least get the Yukon rear install since I know for sure the pinion bearings are correct

I was quoted roughly $1500 for front and rear swap on my 2010 from my 3.42 to 4.11s at 4 wheel parts and Desert Rat. Both are large offroad type retailers that do gear swaps all the time.

The gears they quoted me with were Motive, and whatever brand 4 wheel parts uses.

I'm just trying to find the extra cash to get it done now..

Are you putting a posi in the rear? Take out the front carrier cost ($150), since I require it and you don't (3.08 vs 3.42) per Yukon website and the Truetrac, I'd be at $280 above your cost, given the same labor costs. That difference is probly from the cost of Yukon gears and Yukon install kits. Although, Motive gears are probly the same cost/quality as Yukon, so who knows. It does say that Yukon install kits use Timken bearings, which is a good thing, same as GM uses I think I read once.

Edit: I appreciate your input. Every little comment helps at this point, even though I totally hijacked this thread!

No posi, open diffs front and rear. I'm not sure how much a truetrac in the rear would raise the quote.

Just based on internet pricing, I would guess $450 +/- $25

I ran motive gears Yukon installs stock front carrier and truetrac in the back. I did the labor myself (you need quite a few tools). I also caught some problems to. Front diff fluid had aluminum shavings in it which I found out the outer carrier bearing race was free spinning in the housing. Rear carrier is supposed to be pretty tight and pried out but mine fell out when caps were removed. So I think shims were worn or bad setup from gm btw truck only has 28k on it and 4x4 is hardly used
