2007 Avalanche LC9 (8TH VIN 3) 5.3L need block & heads

Got a destroyed engine and need another block and heads. Will do AFM/DOD delete on new junkyard engine and swap intake and accessories to new reworked long block. Question is what year cars can I get the long block from? I'm thinking any thing built from 2007 through 2011. I don't know but think the blocks heads and cranks are all the same? Chevy trucks Humvees Saabs all possible donors? Doing this for 15yr old grandsons truck and he knows more about this stuff than me ! Thanks

Any LC9 block from 2007-2013 would work. There is also the LMG block that is iron that you can use as well.

So you have options from silverado, sierra, tahoe, yukon, suburban, avalanche. Pretty much any of those 5.3's would work.

2007 through 2009 LC9s are the same. Single pattern camshaft, No VVT.

2010-2014 LC9s have a different camshaft to work with VVT.

The LMG follows the same changes.

The LY5 was not a Flex Fuel engine and was discontinued after 2009. No VVT either.
